April 10th, 2009 by Anne Richardson · No Comments · News, Oregon director, Oregon film new definition, Side Notes

Oregon filmmaker Chris Eyre directs three of the five part PBS mini-series which begins Monday, April 13, at 9:00 PM on Channel 10.

Kristi Turnquist writes about We Shall Remain in today’s Oregonian:

NATIVE PORTRAITS

While commercial broadcast TV devolves into lame-brained reality competitions, talk shows and endless cop adventures, public television is still hanging in there, exploring more challenging topics. The most recent example: “We Shall Remain,” a new series on “American Experience.”

Benjamin Bratt narrates the documentary series that tells stories of Native Americans that aim to highlight the resilience and survival skills of Native peoples, rather than dwelling exclusively on the undeniably tragic tales of suffering and exile. The series begins at 9 p.m. Monday on KOPB (10).

Chris Eyre was born in Portland, grew up in Klamath Falls, and first studied film at Mt. Hood Community College.
