Carl Fredricksen, the crotchety balloon powered traveler of Up, was voiced by Ed Asner, who sits on the board of directors of the Governors’ Office of Television and Film, aka the Oregon Film Commission. A recent part time Oregonian, Asner joins the list of Hollywood emigres who move here to get away from LA, but not necessarily to retire from their careers.

Walter Brennan and Ginger Rogers started the trend. Their moves to Oregon did nothing to stop, or even slow, their creative output as actors. Ed Asner and William Hurt continue it.

I hereby claim Up as an Oregon film, on the basis of the Oregon citizenship of Ed Asner.
