I too agree with Dave. I love the entire story and have lived the experience in my mind. I walked where they walked and listened to their conversations. To try to put Ayla's story in any other medium could not come close to the medium of print. And my minds eye.

Read half the series & have got all bar the last book but as they are books which you can't put down & I'm always busy I'll come to them when I eventually retire. A film could never touch the brilliant descriptive writing which takes you into the heart & mind of character & animal alike such as the horse Ayla rode across the frozen waste when an outcast.

I am currently rereading the entire series and hoping to finish the series that I started in 1986. Instead of a movie, which is limited in scope, a television series would be the media that I would like to see to bring this book series to life.

I read all of the Clan of the Cave bear series and I absolutley love all of them and have read them about 10 million times each. Jean M. Auel is my idol and I love Ayla and Jondalar, this is my favorite book series ever. And even though this wasnt a successful movie if we made it now with all this new technology than it would be great!

I think that the movie left out so many important parts of the book... I think that anyone watching the movie that hadn't read the book would have no idea what was going on.. that and ayla was a young teenager when she left the clan... but in the movie she is much older.. I am currently reading the 4th book of the series and would love too see more movies.. hopefully done better then the first one.. another cmplaint I have is in the movie the clan girls all laugh and smirk which would never have happened in the book.. very dissappointing movie!

I read jean Auels series re Clan of the Cave Bear and I was stunned how well done the movie was and how close Darryl hanna fulfilled the fantasy of what I saw the main charactor to be.
It may have bombed amoungst the peasant Box Office but it and she ( DH) should have won top awards for the elegant protrayal and performance
