October 24th, 2008 by Anne Richardson · No Comments · 1930's, Oregon animator, Oregon film new definition, Oregon voice artist

In 1932, Disney asked Vance DeBar “Pinto” Colvig to provide the voice for a new character, Goofy.

Born in Jacksonville, Oregon, Colvig came to cartooning as Mel Blanc later would – through musical clowning. His first job was playing the clarinet with crossed eyes at the Lewis & Clark Exposition in Portland, in 1905.
