This portrait of Mayo Methot was drawn while she was appearing in Torch Song, on Broadway.
Methot came to New York from Portland in 1923, as a teenager, to appear on Broadway in The Mad Honeymoon. She worked constantly after that. After Torch Song in 1930, she went Hollywood.
Speaking of which, somebody please tell me they have seen Night Club Lady (1932), in which Mayo appears opposite Adolfe Menjou.
