A tiny actress with an enormous career, Bessie Love (born Juanita Horton) worked with everyone from Cecil B. De Mille to Milos Forman. She came to Oregon to star in a film produced by a Portland based company, Clinton Productions, in 1922.
Bulldog Courage is a lost film.
You can’t see Bulldog Courage, but you can see The Broadway Melody (1929), in which Love plays a hoofer with a heart of gold, and for which she was nominated Best Actress. Her second Oregon film was Reds (1981).
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that the second earliest Oregon film on my list is one made by Oregon filmmakers.
